Things will change in Rust over the next couple of days. When you launch Rust you’ll be asked if you want to play Rust or play the Experimental Version. You should probably choose Play Rust.

During this transition period things might get a bit broke for a few hours. If you find yourself unable to launch Rust please try restarting Steam, try restarting your computer, and try going to Verify Contents in the Properties window for Rust in Steam.

What is the ‘Play Rust’ option?
This will play the version of Rust you know and love.

What is the ‘Try Experimental’ option?
This will play the experimental version. This is the reboot version we have made from scratch.

Why not get rid of the old version?
Because the experimental version isn’t anywhere near ready yet. We haven’t yet implemented all of the features that are in the old version.

When will you get rid of the old version?
We probably won’t ever fully get rid of it. Even when it’s done we’ll probably still have a legacy branch for you to go back and remember it. It’ll be retired when we’re confident that the experimental branch contains all of the same gameplay features as the old version, and a much larger majority of people are playing it.

So is the Experimental branch going away?
No. The experimental branch will just be a more up to date version of the live branch.

How will experimental get more popular with just one server?
We’ll add more servers as time goes on. At the moment we’re testing specific features and server stability – so it’s better if we have a large amount of people joining our single server to test it.

What about bandwidth? Will we be getting updates every 5 minutes?
No. The default branch will be updated once a week – to accompany the devblog. But if you subscribe to the experimental branch you will get live updates as they are committed.

Experimental has no servers! I can’t play!
Sometimes our test server will be down. This is to be expected because of the speed at which we work. Please play the old version if you require stability. Experimental will get better over time.

Can I run an Experimental server?
Not yet, sorry.

Why the change?
The huge majority of our players are totally unaware of the work we’re doing on the experimental branch. They think we’ve done nothing for 6 months. We want to make it more apparent that we are actually doing stuff.

desde fevereiro q nao jogo, mas acho q vou esperar mais

esses early access vao melhorando com o tempo, entao bls

se bem q acho q to perdendo bastante coisa massa

ta tendo um bafafá da galera chatona

os devs anunciaram outro jogo

daí os tonto acha que o rust vai ser prejudicado com isso, ou até cancelado.

nada a ver. totalmente normal um estúdio ter mais de um ou dois projetos.

Rust Is Rebooting
There are two different versions of Rust. When the game is launched in Steam, players are asked if they want to Play Rust or play the Experimental Version? The version that launches with ‘Play Rust’ is the version that most people know about and are currently playing. It is currently the most stable. However, the Experimental Version is the focus of the development team, and it will eventually take over from the main version when it has sufficient features and when the majority of players have moved over. We do not have a timescale for that.

Experimental is a complete rewrite of Rust. It isn’t just a patch or an update. We’ve spent the past few months remaking the game from the ground-up, re-building it to enable us to fulfil our ambitions in a way that was impossible with the original release. This isn’t unusual: games get rebooted all the time, but we’re in Early Access and there’s no way to hide that, nor would we want to. It’s part of the process. We want to get the message out that we are working on Rust, just not on the version the majority of players are experiencing.

demorei pouco pra captar o q tem q fazer no comecinho, mas logo tava me sentindo mais apto pra sobreviver e sacar umas mecanicas

nos servidores custom tem uns br com ping baixo

vc começa pelado com uma pedra, aí é bom voce quebrar umas arvores pra pegar madeira, caçar algum bicho pra comer, e procurar um lago no mapa pra tomar agua. aí fica confortavel depois que vc faz uma cabana e um saco de dormir, q é onde vc pode dar spawn fixo.
