EA has today announced the third Army of TWO game, titled Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel. It'll "reset" the series with Dead Space developer Visceral Games taking the reins for the third instalment in the franchise that will boast the same 2-player co-op gameplay with an added mature and grittier edge. This time it'll also be powered by DICE's Frostbite 2 Engine.
You'll play as T.W.O. (Tactical Worldwide Operations) operatives Alpha and Bravo who find themselves on the streets of Mexico, slap-bang in the middle of a drug war on an assignment mired in deceit and corruption. And as you'd expect, you'll need to work together to bring the vicious drug cartels down.
“We wanted to refresh the Army of TWO franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favourites,” said Julian Beak, Executive Producer at Visceral Games. “With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.”
As well as supporting online co-op, Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel will also enable you to play in local 2-player split-screen, and you'll be able to customise and upgrade your character to distinguish them from your friend's custom operative. There'll be a deep customisation system with more options, enabling you to upgrade weapons and customise your distinctive mask.
Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel will be releasing in March 2013.
