Have you ever stopped to think how good locations in other video games might be in first person shooters? One Nintendo 64 ROM hacker has taken his curiosity a step further and brought Peach's iconic castle from Super Mario 64 over to GoldenEye 007 as a playable deathmatch map.
The thought of running around the flagship environment of Super Mario 64 wielding golden guns, rocket launchers and PP7s is an exciting thought for any gamer who grew up in the Nintendo 64 era. This, however, is not the first time it has been done. The same talented ROM hacker managed to embed the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time's Kakariko Village as playable map in both GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark.
In order to get shooting through the Mushroom Kingdom's castle, you'll need to get hold of a GoldenEye 007 ROM file and follow some detailed instructions which can be found on the GoldenEye Vault. While it might be a little fiddly, the end result is worth it - just don't forget to turn paintball mode on!
