Super Mario Bros. Movie Gets Comic Sequel

Earlier this month, the Super Mario Bros. Movie had a special Los Angeles screening in celebration of its 20th Anniversary. But for the event organisers, the fun doesn’t just stop there. In fact, the movie – which is akin to Marmite – is now getting its very own comic sequel.

Written by Steven Applebaum and Ryan Hoss, and based on discussions by the original scriptwriter for the film, Parker Bennett, the comic picks up from where the film came to a grinding halt. Bennett, speaking in his foreword, says he was ‘hopelessly optimistic’ for a sequel based on a teaser at the end, but when that didn’t come to fruition, he simply moved on.
