The producer behind the long-running Tekken franchise has confirmed the upcoming seventh numbered entry in the beat-’em-up series will be released in 2014.
Katsuhiro Harada (via Gamenguide) wouldn’t give an exact date for the upcoming brawler, which is coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, though at least we know it’ll be out in some shape or form this year.
Elsewhere, Harada-san divulged some information on the game’s Mishima-centric plotline. Apparently, we’ll discover what happened to Kazumi Mishima, Kazuya’s long-deceased mother (or so we thought), who is confirmed to be the mysterious woman in the teaser trailer.
In addition, Jun Kazama, who was thought dead after a confrontation with Ogre prior to the events of 1998’s Tekken 3, is set to return in Tekken 7. While she did show her face in the spin-off game, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, this will be her first canonical appearance since 1996's Tekken 2.
Tekken 7 will supposedly bring closure to the long-running Mishima family feud, though gameplay details are being kept firmly under wraps at present.

Busy little Twitter bee that he is, Harada-san engaged his fans one on one after the release of the latest trailer, embedded below. It seems to hint that Heihachi murdered his wife Kazumi for having the Super Devil gene, and passing it on to their son Kazuya, who ends the trailer by confronting his father on the same hellish volcano Heihachi was thrown into at the end of Tekken II. It is not yet known whether Kazumi will be a playable character or perhaps a boss.

Meanwhile, Taka Kawasaki, head of Epic Studios Japan, confirmed to Korean site kdramastars that not only was a PC version happening, it would be the "leading one" thanks to the Unreal Engine 4.
Harada-san And Special Guest Coming To Tekken Panel @ SDCC
Jun Kazama was of course already a featured player in Tekken Tag Team Tournament 2, but that was not part of the canon series. Tekken 7 sees the actual return of the woman who's been missing in action since before Tekken 3, brutally slain by Ogre. However, whatever Ogre is carrying in that screenshot up there - it's not Jun's head, Harada-san confirmed on Twitter.
Resurrection theories a-poppin' in the comments, come on!
