RAGE has two multiplayer modes: Road Rage and Wasteland Legends. In Road Rage, up to four players compete in a free-for-all match that takes place in an arena designed to make use of the vehicles. The objective is to collect Rally Points that appear around the arena while killing the opponents and stealing their points. The Wasteland Legends is a series of two-player co-op missions based on stories that are heard throughout the single-player Campaign. There are a total of nine objectives in this game type.
The second multiplayer offering falls in the cooperative category. Named the Wasteland Legends, this mode has two players work together to complete specially designed missions that are based off of stories told by characters during the Campaign. For instance, there is a series of missions centered around a RC Bomb Car factory in the Shrouded Bunker. The local Sheriff sends some of his boys in to investigate, and they come back with schematic on how to build these explosive toys. In Wasteland Legends, the team will play as those boys. The cooperative missions play just like the single-player game, albeit with a lot more enemies to compensate for the additional player.
